This art work is by Frohickey here on DA and you can see the B&W at this link [link] .
As I told the artist, it reminded me so much of a story I read and later saw on TV, "The Screaming Skull." As a kid, I went to my local library and read horror, mystery, etc. and the magazines where n bad condition, faded and torn.
I wanted to make this piece look like how I remembered it. A aged paged in a creepy magazine waiting to entertain some kid or adult with a taste for "The Dark Side."

Thanks to Frohickey for allowing me to play with his art piece and please check out his cool color version!

Good one. It does make me think of those old spooky mags. :)

Thanks! Spent many a day looking for the latest or oldest issues of Weird Tales, Ellery Queen and EERIE to feed my SciFi & Horror lust. :-)

When I was a kid in my little Mid-Western town, an old disabled guy cleaned a local grocery store at night. He lived in the basement of the store and during the day he sold used paperbacks out of that basement. You could buy a book for a quarter, bring it back after you had read it and for another nickel you could trade it for another. You could also trade in one of your own books that way. He also had magazines and comics for the same deal.

That's pretty cool. I had to wait for the "Used Book Sales" at the library but sometimes pages would be missing!
This is how I first read "The Thing," under it's original tittle "Who Goes There?"
